Description
Build a prototype that reveals content behind real objects by combining on-device AR tracking on the Snap Spectacles with a Gaussian Splatting scene reconstructed from a short capture.
The app renders a user-controlled clipping plane (slider UI) that sweeps through the 3D splat volume to expose occluded regions while preserving correct occlusion with real geometry.
Tasks
- Conduct a comprehensive review of the state of the art in light-weight/cloud-based Gaussian Splatting.
- Implement a light-weight/cloud-based Gaussian Splatting reconstruction method, with a clipping plane rendering.
- Implement a control interface within Lens Studio for scene capture and specialized X-ray rendering.
This topic’s tasks can be combined for a PR, a BA or for a MA.
Requirements
- English (source code, comments, and final report should be in English)
- Lens Studio experience – preferable, but not mandatory
- Experience with Gaussian Splatting – preferable, but not mandatory
