On December 4th, 2025, outstanding students across all research areas of the Faculty of Informatics were awarded prizes for their MSc, PhD and BSc theses.
We are delighted to announce that our Master’s student Anna Sebernegg was honoured with a runner-up prize for her Master thesis focusing on the research topic of Tennis Motion Learning in Virtual Reality.
Anna’s thesis introduces a new methodology for tennis training in virtual reality that enables practicing the tennis forehand technique with automated feedback on motion correctness. The forehand motion of a player is recorded, analysed, and visualized with the goal of teaching correct tennis technique. The results of Anna’s research indicate that the proposed training methodology increases motivation, performance, and self-reported confidence in the player’s technique. The high scientific and practical value of the thesis is supported by a publication at the high-level scientific conference IEEE ISMAR 2025 and by the availability of the training tool in the Meta Quest store. The thesis was supervised by Peter Kán.
The VR group warmly congratulates Anna on this well-deserved award and wishes her continued success in her professional journey.
