Investigate how it is to use Linux on the desktop at TU Wien: What services are easy to use? Which are not? What hurdles come into your way & what solutions would exist? For which of your problems do you get proper support? Where are you left alone? The exploration of these and related questions should lead to two deliverables: (1) a list of investigated issues and identified problems (each with a proper description) + (2) a systematic discussion of potential solutions and concrete suggestions for improvement. If performed as a diploma theses, must include user-based evaluation, i.e. you do not just perform your own investigation but conduct broader user-based research with desktop Linux users among the TU Wien (research) staff. Requires good knowledge of IT infrastructures and IT service environments.
