Abstract

Current research results show the great potential of virtual and mixed reality in the training and deployment of action forces. Technical and methodical challenges as well as a lack of robustness and integration, however, have so far prevented practical use in many cases. In particular, CBRN defence with a variety of processes and equipment offers a diverse field of application. The MR-ABC project therefore demonstrates MR training and command and control in this field.

This project focuses on the research and development of a novel Mixed Reality (MR) system for training and leadership education as well as command and control systems. With the use case CBRN defence, the functionality, practicality and potential of quality and efficiency enhancement in training and deployment are scientifically tested. An innovative MR approach will provide flexible intuitive 3D interaction with real and virtual content.
