Overview:

Develop multiple 3D Demos for the 3D stereoscopic LED Wall in the new Mixed Reality Lab, which is still under construction (https://colab.tuwien.ac.at/spaces/MRLAB/pages/377323583/3.+Systems+and+Components)

This topic can be done as a Project PR (smaller scope) or a Bachelor thesis (more demos).

Task Description:

Demo 1: Use the existing Flux Fluid Water simulation tool in Unreal 5.7. This plugin exists in the group, has been bought and can be used

Run the provided demo, as seen in this video

on the 3D stereo LED wall in the MR Lab. Therefore a workflow exists to render existing Unreal content in 3D on the LED wall.
Substitute the character with a MetaHuman avatar and add sound that is played over the MR audio system. Use existing controllers to allow the user to navigate through a 3D water world.

Demo 2 & 3: Use existing content that is available or provided by the group to create interactive 3D demos. One demo should include a realistic forest environment. Dynamic elements like water, dynamic sky, foliage (Unreal 5.7) can make scenes look dynamic without additional animations necessary. Use existing plugins. Add audio (stereo sufficient, multi-channel if possible). Existing controllers should be used for navigation and interaction.

A powerful rendering server (NVidia RTX 6000) is available in the MR Lab to render the content in real-time.

Required Skills:

  • Basic experience with Unreal Engine (Blueprints or C++)
  • Interest in real-time computer graphics and designing compelling, beautiful interactive experiences.
